Tue-Sun 7pm-7am Opening Fri 4 September, 7-9pm A Blue Crowned Monarch and her Congress of Birds is a meditation on natural history, transformation and wonder. Inspired by the ornithology collection at Museum Victoria, numerous bird headdresses have been crafted and photographed to create a video animation. The light of the projection hits the acetate discs and flares and dances across the surface of the screened window out onto the street. Artist Sarah Edwards

About the Artist
Sarah Edwards is a Melbourne-based artist undertaking her final year of a PhD within the School of Art at RMIT University. She has worked for most of her career in the natural history collections at Museum Victoria (Melbourne) where her research is now based. Sarah utilises the mediums of light and sound to examine hybrid relationships between museological practices and the natural world. |
