Journal Works is a collaborative project that celebrates the jewellery artists’ journal, an often neglected aspect of an artists’ work. Despite their destiny, the richness of ideas deserves its own level of recognition. Journals capture the honest and generous effort put into brainstorming, recording, documenting, organising, sketching and illustration of ideas. They provide an informal testing ground to problem solve, explore and dream with reduced pressure for a specific outcome. They allow artists to establish links between ideas and observe common themes across projects. They become a future resource as artists refer back to them for specific processes, techniques and useful tips gleaned over many years.
Journal Works provides an opportunity for the unique work of journals to be acknowledged. It enables the involvement of a large number of students and staff from Melbourne Polytechnic and is therefore a true collaboration and celebration of design development and the ideation process. @mp_jewellery_objects #journalworks #melbpolyjewellery |
