(ABOUT THE ARTIST)

Vito Bila’s practice is focused on non-functional metal vessels that explore a dynamic and unconventional combination of processes. Vito’s work engages a dialogue between hand made, digital and industrial techniques and processes. The juxtaposition of these processes creates an opportunity to reflect on the inherent qualities of analogue and digital processes and their ability to support and enrich each other in the practice of object making. Vito is a Melbourne based practitioner and educator, exhibiting his work widely in Australia and internationally. In 2014 he was visiting lecturer at the Rhode Island School of Design. Vito’s work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, Hamilton City Gallery and Bluestone Collection, Melbourne.
