Studio MG1, Mercator Building
1 St Heliers St
Abbotsford 3067
6 September
10am-5pm

Opening
Tue 1 September, 5-7pm

Katheryn Leopoldseder throws open the doors, inviting you to explore her studio practice at the historic Abbotsford Convent.

Nestled within Melbourne’s destination arts and cultural precinct, Studio MG1 was formerly the sorting-section of the Convent’s commercial laundries. Inmates laundered sheets for Melbourne’s major hotels, financially sustaining the site.

Mercator has been sensitively restored to reflect both it’s history and it’s current industrial arts uses.

Katheryn’s Open Studio is an opportunity to peek inside this unique space. Explore curious old-school tooling. See making demonstrations and discuss the concepts behind her work. Leopoldseder’s latest collections will also be available to purchase.
