for Victorian early career writers
Radiant Pavilion is excited to announce a new opportunity for Victorian craft writers.
Supported by Creative Victoria and the City of Melbourne, Crafted Words encourages critical discourse around contemporary craft, and emphasises the value of quality writing in this objective.
Four writers – two established and two early career – will be commissioned to write a 1000wd critical piece on Radiant Pavilion 2017. The theme, direction and format is entirely up to the writers but the piece must reflect on the event in some way – what they saw, issues that arose, discussions that were sparked etc.
This is an important opportunity to support and encourage critical reflection and discussion on work shown in Radiant Pavilion and issues in the field more broadly, from a range of perspectives.
The aim is not to commission four reviews of the event, rather to tease out the conversations that occur as a result of it and provide a platform to share these with community, in Australia and abroad.
Each writer will be paid $500 for their work, and the pieces will be published online after the event.
The two early career writers will be selected through an open call process.
The call out will open shortly, sign up to our mailing list for updates.
