Three Spoons Full
This eclectic offering is based on the humble spoon. Referencing cooking with hidden layers through the use of a series of handles from Victorian era button hooks. These beautiful objects are given a new purpose in the kitchen. Forgotten in time, given a second life through this transformation. Their previous lives referenced in ghostly like layers. The body of work will include existing spoons from the artists private collection. It is a celebration of the kitchen, the cook and the humble wooden spoon. Dedicated to Valda, the artists mother, who loved to cook. The combined result will elude both forward and backward in time, inviting the viewer to question the objects they see. A celebration of objects that are often no longer perceived to have value in our society, particularly the hand crafted nature of the pieces.
