Upcycling with EMM is a pop-up jewellery project - an opportunity for hands-on artistic expression. The project invites members of the public to make their own paper beaded bracelet/necklace, empowering them to take well known city refuse and repurpose it.  On-the-spot teaching will be given by a selection of EMM members - some of Melbourne's most well regarded makers in the fields of bead work and recycled materials. In addition to raising awareness of contemporary jewellery and its use of alternative materials, Upcycling with EMM invites engagement with ethical making and issues around sustainability. About the Artists

Ethical Makers Movement (EMM) is a collective of makers and like-minded individuals working together to raise awareness of and drive change in craft practices, to make them more ethical and environmentally sustainable. Started in 2013, EMM runs forums and events with a focus on inspiring makers and the public alike. Their own projects are unique in that any works made are created collaboratively. EMM aims to operate as an information hub and community advocacy network seeking to educate and influence consumers and makers to improve the ethical situation and sustainability practices occurring within the craft, art and design sectors.
